“I needed a career that would keep me challenged. Family practice gave me the opportunity to have a varied, patient-centered practice where I can get to know my patients and their families long-term. My goal is obtaining a complete picture of each patient’s health and wellness.

“I believe in shared medical decision-making and I enjoy being the medical advisor to the public health department, law enforcement, fire department, City of Leadville, Lake County, Public Schools, High Mountain Institute, Colorado Mountain College and Vail Mountain School. I am also on the faculty at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. I like taking care of the whole town with a full-spectrum family practice.
“I care a great deal about people and I am easily approachable. People know that if they need me, I’ll be there for them.”

In her spare time, Dr. Zwerdlinger enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, mountain biking,  ice climbing, skiing (telemark, alpine, skate) and snow biking.

“I enjoy treating patients from birth to old age and seeing the wide range of medical issues that a family practice brings. In our small community, I like knowing my patients and their families well. I love seeing them at school, the grocery store, the ski hill, etc. It gives me an opportunity to really be able to understand my patients and what’s happening in their lives so I will be able to help them better.

“I believe it is important to treat the whole patient and look at many different ways we can help a patient by integrating different types of secondary services into their care. I want to help my patients live the life they want and do all the things they want to by optimizing their health and well-being.”

In her free time, Amy loves being with her husband and three children, mountain biking, skiing and running.
